Livestock Manager

The Livestock Manager, reporting to the Feedlot Operations Manager, will be responsible of a team of up to 12 staff. The position will suit a motivated individual looking to join an enthusiastic, fast paced team and environment.

Key areas of responsibilities include;
• Overall hands-on leadership of animal health and livestock processing teams
• Maintain and continually improve site animal health and welfare
• Ensuring animal health and performance targets are met
• Maintaining high level of department WHS and QA practices
• Planning weekly internal and external stock movements
• Liaising with external stakeholders
• Inventory control and data management

Preferred skills/ experience include;
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in the feedlot industry
• Proven leadership skills and experience
• Excellent communication skills and an ability to problem solve
• Sound horsemanship experience and ability
• Well established livestock handling skills
• Strong computer based experience

The successful applicant will need a positive attitude and ability to work as part of a team. Access to suitable horses and tack will be an advantage.

Feed mill opportunities

Working as part of the Iranda feed/ mill team the successful applicant will be exposed to industry leading plant and equipment as well as modern feeding systems and techniques.

Main responsibilities include;

  • Commodity receiving, handling and storage
  • Loading, mixing and delivery of ration
  • Machinery operation including; feed truck, loader , tractor, telehandler
  • Basic preventative maintenance on machinery

Preferred skills/ experience include;

  • Machinery operation experience
  • Mechanically minded
  • Knowledge of workplace safety and quality assurance systems

The successful applicant will need a positive attitude and ability to work as part of a team. Different rosters will be offered but all will contain rostered weekend work. Above award remuneration offered.

Pen Rider

Main responsibilities include;

  • Monitoring cattle health
  • Drafting and moving cattle

  • General cattle husbandry tasks

Preferred skills/ experience include;

  • Experience in the livestock industry
  • Competent horsemanship and riding skills
  • Experience with cattle handling
  • Computer based record keeping
  • Some knowledge of workplace safety and quality assurance systems.

The Pen rider position requires employee to supply a minimum of 2 suitable horses and tack

Machinery operator opportunities

Working as part of the Iranda machinery operation team the successful applicant will be exposed to industry leading plant and equipment as well as modern feeding systems and techniques.

  • Assist with loading, mixing and delivery of ration

Graduate Program

The Iranda beef graduate program has been specifically designed to ensure it provides the practical training for a successful career in the feedlot industry. The 18-month program will integrate a series of internal and external competencies to provide the applicant with the knowledge and skill base to transition into a supervisory role at the completion of the program. Upon completion, not only will the graduate have gained a broad understanding of the feedlot industry, but have undertaken numerous nationally recognised qualifications.

The graduate will be exposed to all departments of the feedlot spending 3 months in milling/feeding, livestock and administration. On the completion of the initial 9 months the graduate will be provided with the opportunity to undertake a leadership role for the final 6 months. Upon completion of the program if the feedlot see it fit, a permanent position may be offered to the applicant.

Administration opportunities

Working as part of the Iranda Administration team, you will ensure the efficient day to day operations of the office and weigh bridge.

Responsibility:

  • Weighing trucks, including grain sampling and testing
  • Work with feedlot software to provide accurate data to management
  • Maintain and error check cattle data
  • Maintenance and updating of tracking spread sheets
  • Accurate record keeping
  • RFID reconciliations
  • General office duties as required including answering phones, filing, greeting customers and visitors

Preferred skills:

  • Experience with feedlot software
  • Experience in office based administrative environment
  • Proficiency with standard computer applications and the internet
  • Strong attention to detail

Establishing priorities, working independently without supervision, a positive attitude and a willingness to learn are personal characteristics that are highly sort after for this position.
